SAITAMA, Japan – Ovince Saint Preux, Gokhan Saki, Jessica Andrade and Claudia Gadelha each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Friday’s UFC Fight Night 117 event.
Andrade and Gadelha earned the “Fight of the Night,” while Saint Preux and Saki each won “Performance of the Night” honors.
UFC officials announced the winners following the event, which MMAjunkie attended.
Saint Preux (21-10 MMA, 9-5) put Yushin Okami (34-11 MMA, 13-6 UFC) to sleep just 90 seconds into their light heavyweight main event. Saint Preux finished Okami with a Von Flue choke – his third such finish in the UFC out of only five total in the promotion’s history.
Former strawweight title challengers Andrade (17-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and Gadelha (15-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) waged a bloody war, but it was one dominated by Andrade after the first couple minutes of the fight. She took home scores of 30-25, 30-26 and 30-27.
Saki (1-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) was returning to competition after two and a half years away from kickboxing. He knocked out Henrique da Silva (12-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) with 15 seconds left in the first round with a massive left hand. It was his first MMA fight since 2004.
UFC Fight Night 117 took place Friday at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, near Tokyo. The card aired on FXX.
